In January ‘24, I was asked to create an interactive fun and educational mural for an exhibition happening in Plymouth.
The mural square was 10meters, 4 sides of 2.5 meters each. 2.4 meters high.
Each side of the mural focused on a different element of our amazing Plymouth sound, from the RNLI to seals and of course the beautiful mermaids.(shh!) The event was mainly to focus on plankton and bioluminescence.
During the day the mural looked like a normal fun family painting, showing educational elements and having silly bits to spot. At dusk we lit up the boards using UV lights and the mural came to life, I added layers of UV paint to the mural to show off all the bioluminescence (the northern lights of the sea). It was a really lovely project to be part of and I also provided a series of children’s craft workshops where they could make there own giant fish!
I was also lucky enough to be on ITV news, chatting about the mural!
